Meet Julie Montanea

As with most groups that take in and spend money, the Treasurer handles the District’s income and expenses, works with a budget, and reports out to the District Executive Committee and membership. But being a political party organization, District 11 Democrats is also a “political committee” under the law. Just like political candidates and political action committees (PACs), we must follow campaign finance laws. The District Treasurer ensures that all contributions and expenditures are allowable under North Carolina law, and files financial disclosure reports with the NC State Board of Elections several times a year. A recent amendment to the State Party Plan of Organization makes this office an appointed one, rather than elected.
