After much consideration, I have decided to run for chair of the 11th District Democratic Party. With my experience as previous district chair, Caldwell County chair, six years as an officer in the 10th District, SEC member, and candidate for NC Senate, I have been involved for many years. We need someone who can connect the far corners of our district, speak to the press, coordinate events, and most importantly, focus on flipping our seat in the US Congress.

I did not step up to run for my first term as chair. I was recruited after another chair resigned. I was elected right before the district convention, and I had some catching up to do. Since then, I have gone back and forth on whether I should run again. I’m sure to some I seemed very undecided, and I was. However, I am now making a full commitment to engage and do the work if I’m elected. We need a strong team to support our counties, provide resources, and win our house seat back.

I have some exciting thoughts about fundraising, and during my talks with other county leaders, I’ve heard some really great ideas on many fronts. I look forward to hearing all your ideas and finding ways to implement them to make our district stronger and achieve victory in 2026. I appreciate your support. This isn’t about me or any one personality. It’s about all of us working together to do the best we can for WNC.

I am Jesse B. Ross from Haywood County and I learned at a young age how connected suffering was to government policy. I’m involved in politics because I grew up witnessing those who raised me navigate through unearned hardship yet still bring out the best in others.

I registered as a Democrat four years ago and in those years I have: successfully organized Young democrats chapters in Haywood, Jackson, Macon, Madison, McDowell, Watauga, Burk, Caldwell, Wilkes, Surrey, Yadkin, Gaston and Cleveland counties, a teen Democrats in Rutherford County, and engaged with younger voters in Clay, Cherokee, Iredell, and Polk counties; protected Haywood County’s municipal offices from ideologues; and given encouragement during the most important election cycle we’ve ever had. This work was the product of many days traveling to each county, hours of phone calls with County Chairs and importantly, following up after meeting young people to show I care. The results? Young People who feel supported and empowered to advocate for the future of their communities. They have packed over 100,000 pounds of food, cleaned rivers, debated senior GOP officials, and run for office. They have been the hope during the darkest times of our country.

On the state level I have demonstrated knowledge of our governing documents proactively building SEC teams to plan for statewide meetings. This ensured our 2024 DNC delegation included a large number of young democrats, ensuring that Chair Clayton would have those her same age to support her through that stressful time.

I have been given the honor to see our party from precincts all the way to the DNC. I know our party is full of wonderful volunteers, so often burned out quickly due to how high the stakes are right now. The remedy is long term planning. There is no doubt NC-11 democrats are in the best position we’ve been in for a long time to make practical differences in the lives of our neighbors. Our work secured Alison Rigg’s election and the one seat majority in the General Assembly.

I am running to be NC-11 Chair because I value honoring our leader’s sincerity to do well for their homes. I value being focused on actions that physically impact the lives of our loved ones. I am running to ensure that the NC-11 team is the best in the south and is advocated to state leadership as such. I am running because I am no longer patient to wait for us to become the decision makers we are destined to be in North Carolina politics.
